HOW TO RECOVER DATA FROM CORRUPTED HARD DRIVE OR SD CARD
Having your hard drive or sd card become corrupt is a very frustrating experience but as we all know it these devices always do fail at one point in time and they always happen when we least expect them to. Many of us end up not backing up what ever data we had on these devices, hence the fear of losing all our data FOREVER!. Well I'm here to bring you good news, there is a way to recover your files when your storage device becomes corrupt. Below are some few steps to take in order to recover what ever lost file you might have lost. Note that there are different kinds of methods used to recover data from corrupt storage devices. According to the research I made, this is the most convenient since it doesn't involve you downloading any software but rather using in built systems in Windows e.g. CMD
If you're reading this article then I'm sure you are familiar with the image above. The storage device appears in My Computer as it normally does but when you try opening it that error pops up, ok relax and follow this steps:
1. Right click the start menu and click on run and type cmd and click ok to open CMD
2. When cmd launches, type chkdsk f: /r and press enter, note this, the letter f you see there is the letter given to the hard drive in my computer, this letter can differ depending on the amount of hard drives present in your computer. When you input in the chkdsk command, don't be alarmed when you see the warning that states that your hard drive is not a Windows XP drive. Just press Y to continue. It will then start to run through the files and you will start seeing your file names appearing.
3. When its almost done it will ask whether you want to keep lost chains into fails. You may Y for yes if you want to use them. The hard drive or sd card will then be opened at this point and you can get to all your data and do a back up if you want to.
